Hello there,
My name is Lindsey and I am married to my teenage sweetheart Dustin and together we have three amazing wonderful boys! They are Alexander who is five, Kayden who is four and Nicholas Wray who is two. I am a stay at home mom. In our free time we love to go camping, fishing, play volleyball and just have a good time whenever we can. I am currently enrolled in Front Range Community College and am taking two online classes. I am trying to get my teaching degree as I would love to be a second grade teacher. It is taking a lot longer than what I thought it would as my youngest son has a lot of medical problems so I can only do two classes at a time due to our hospital stays and doctor appointments. If there is anything you want to know about me please free to ask. Hope you all enjoy my blog posts as I have never done these before.
Hi Lindsey, I like yourself am as well new to the blog experience. I must say you are brave to name yours raidersgirl ugh in this day and age. I kid, I kid, but I am really glad you posed this question because while I am no phsycologist nor am I any other kind of expert i do have opinions on this subject. I mostly see this from a view that has nothing to do with higher security or with gun control but, with a deeper problem a failing by society. While this is multi-faceted you can do studies that go back and the number of school shootings has not risen yet the sensational coverage of them has. While it is still a problem I think it is let down of society not getting mentally unstable people the help that they really need. Some parents and teachers that don't listen, talk, or even try to understand a fragile mind that is easily hurt. I'll stop here for now but I really look forward to where your research takes you.
ReplyDeleteLindsey,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great blog; today many ask this question "are our schools safe." It seems like every time I turn on the news someone is going in to a place and killing people. So I questions is any place safe anymore. It has come to the point when I enter a building I will locate the nearest exit. So what can we do about it? Can security get any tighter? I worry about my children going to public school for the sad fact that school violence is a real and scary thing. In your first source there are lots of ideas to build relationships with students. However I don't know if this is the problem. I feel like school bulling and hast towards bullies is the cause of the violence, that or the chance for the some spotlight in the media. But more often than not I think it’s about making a point and getting revenge. Maybe our schools need to be finding way to prevent bulling and exclusion of others. I would like to see research one the reason school violence is happening.
Great sources, I'm excited for you to continue with your research and follow the police officer that would be going full time work and getting to know the children better. This will be a huge part of research and may help many schools prevent school violence. Great Post!
